A new era in Central Asia's tourism industry begins with the launch of the region's first international railway tour connecting Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The Silk Road railway tour, which will operate along the Almaty-Turkestan-Tashkent-Almaty route, is set to debut on November 16.
This new travel experience offers tourists a four-day immersive journey along the ancient Silk Road, highlighting some of the region’s most significant historical and cultural sites. The route includes stops at key locations in Turkestan and Tashkent, allowing passengers to explore the rich heritage of these ancient cities. The tour package includes a guide, meals, transportation, and entrance tickets, making the experience both convenient and educational for travelers.
Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, emphasized the importance of the initiative:
"As a result of joint efforts, we managed to create a unique railway tour that connects the two countries. Travel will become more comfortable and accessible for our citizens and tourists from other countries who want to learn about the rich spiritual and historical heritage. This is an important step in the development of tourism and strengthening of cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan."
One of the highlights of the tour is a visit to Otyrar, one of Central Asia’s oldest cities, historically significant as a major trading post on the Silk Road. The program also features visits to the Arystan-baba mausoleum, the Azret Sultan historical and cultural reserve-museum, and the Caravanserai, the largest tourist complex of its kind in Central Asia. In Tashkent, participants will explore both the city's historical landmarks and its contemporary advancements.
The tour is a joint effort between Passenger Transportation, TauKomek Travel, Turan Kazakhstan Travel, Grand Soluxe Travel Company, SkyWay Travel, Kompas, and Khan Turan Travel.
NC Kazakh Tourism is responsible for promoting the route internationally, ensuring that the new Silk Road railway tour attracts global attention.
