US car imports to Kyrgyzstan saw a decline of 56% in the first 11 months of 2024. Between January and November 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported 6,100 cars from the United States, valued at $97.2mn.
This represents a sharp drop from the same period in 2023, when 10,900 cars, worth $191mn, were imported.
The average cost of an imported car from the United States has also decreased. In 2024, the average price was $15,600 per vehicle, compared to $17,400 in 2023.
Kyrgyzstan has continued to import cars from neighboring countries, but the overall volume of imports has varied. In the first 11 months of 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported 101 tons of cars from Uzbekistan, valued at $1.98mn, which represents a decline from 2023 when 259 tons worth $5.69mn were imported.
Similarly, imports from Kazakhstan also dropped to 354 tons, valued at $20.57mn, down from 1,083 tons worth $51.25mn in 2023.
China topped the list of car suppliers to Kyrgyzstan, with 59,840 tons of cars imported, valued at $841.07mn. South Korea followed in second place with 37,615 tons, totaling $251.16mn.
In 4M24, Kyrgyzstan imported more than 34,000 passenger cars from China, a rise from the 3,435 cars imported in the same period of 2023. The value of these imports reached nearly $577mn, a nearly seven-fold increase compared to $83mn in the first four months of 2023.
