Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Head of the Administration of the President, embarked on a productive journey through the Chuy region to oversee industrial developments. His visit encompassed several pivotal enterprises, highlighting the region's burgeoning economic activities.
At the forefront of his tour was Tulpar Motors, an automobile assembly plant where Zhaparov observed firsthand the manufacturing processes of cars, trucks, and specialized buses tailored for Kyrgyzstan's domestic market and anticipated exports to neighboring Central Asian countries.
The plant construction started in May 2023 on a 4.5-hectare area. Over the next five years, the workforce is expected to grow to 1400 employees. The project will involve a total investment of $110mn in two stages, with Uzbekistan as the partnering country.
Continuing his inspection, Zhaparov visited Zilan Eversun Textile, an enterprise pioneering the production of polyester and lycra fabric in Kara-Balta. Operating initially in a trial phase, the facility represents a collaborative effort involving $2.3mn in private investments complemented by $3.4mn from the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Development Fund. With a projected annual output of 3,300 tonnes, the plant aims to generate 200 new jobs, signaling a promising economic boost for the region.
Zhaparov visited the construction site of Kyrgyzaltyn's gold bullion production plant, also in Kara-Balta. This ambitious project, entirely funded by Kyrgyzaltyn, boasts a total investment of kGS 300mn ($3.5mn). Its primary objective is to enhance the value chain of Kyrgyzstan's precious metal exports through the production and sale of measured gold ingots, thereby stimulating local economic growth.
The official inaugurations of these pivotal industrial establishments are slated to occur in the forthcoming months, with the participation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
