Kyrgyzstan emerged as the leading destination for Georgian exports in January 2024, according to data from the National Statistics Service of Georgia. The export volume to Kyrgyzstan reached $46.2 mn, placing the country at the top of Georgia’s export list. A significant factor in the bilateral trade between Georgia and Kyrgyzstan was the export of passenger cars. A total of 16,831 passenger cars, valued at $618 mn, were imported into Kyrgyzstan from Georgia.
Despite the increase in exports to Kyrgyzstan, Georgia’s overall foreign trade turnover in January 2024 was 14.8% lower compared to the same period in the previous year.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Daniyar Amangeldiev, the Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, and Lim Suen, the Director of the KOICA office in the Kyrgyz Republic, held discussions about a project focused on converting the state vehicle fleet to electric vehicles.
Minister Amangeldiev stressed the critical importance of promoting the green agenda in Kyrgyzstan and expressed his belief in the potential impact of the project, named “Electric Vehicles and a Network of Electric Charging Stations.” He is confident that this project will significantly contribute to the efforts of the Kyrgyz Republic’s Cabinet of Ministers in advocating for eco-friendly transportation nationwide.
