The 45th World Chess Olympiad is in full swing in Budapest, Hungary, and Uzbekistan's chess teams have made an impressive start to the tournament. On September 13, during the 3rd round of the competition, both the men's and women's teams secured victories.
The men's national team faced Croatia, delivering a dominant performance with a 3.5 : 0.5 victory. Meanwhile, the women's team triumphed over the host nation, Hungary, with a narrow 2.5 : 1.5 win.
Uzbekistan's men's team, which has performed strongly in the previous rounds, continued their winning streak by defeating Croatia. The final score was 3.5 : 0.5, with the following individual results:
- Nodirbek Abdusattorov defeated Ante Brkich (1:0)
- Nodirbek Yoqubboyev drew against Sasha Martinovich (0.5:0.5)
- Javokhir Sindarov won against Leon Livaic (1:0)
- Shamsiddin Vokhidov triumphed over Zdenko Kozul (1:0)
The women's national team of Uzbekistan faced a tough challenge against Hungary but emerged victorious with a 2.5 : 1.5 result. The individual match outcomes were as follows:
- Afruza Hamdamova won against Zsoka Gaal (1:0)
- Nilufar Yakubbaeva lost to Tanx Xoang (0:1)
- Umida Omonova defeated Julianna Terbe (1:0)
- Marjona Malikova drew with Petra Papp (0.5:0.5)
With this victory, both the men's and women's teams have accumulated 6 points in total after winning their previous two rounds as well.
On September 14, the 4th round of the Olympiad will take place. Uzbekistan's men's team will face Vietnam, while the women's team will go up against Bulgaria. Both teams are aiming to continue their winning streaks and advance further in the tournament.
