The Tashkent Khokimiyat (city administration) and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) have reached agreements on a series of major infrastructure projects valued at nearly $1bn.
The deal was finalized after a meeting between Tashkent Khokim (mayor) Shavkat Umurzakov, Tashkent Invest representatives, and Liu Dong, General Director of CSCEC’s division. According to the capital’s administration, the four projects, totaling $999mn, will see contributions from CSCEC and investors.
The first project, valued at $300mn, will focus on modernizing Tashkent's road infrastructure. This includes road repairs and upgrades, with the involvement of over 200 specialists, including surveyors and transport engineers. The project aims to improve the city's road network, addressing the growing transportation needs of Tashkent's population.
A second initiative involves the creation of a joint venture aimed at training architects, designers, and engineers in road construction. This enterprise is expected to create over 20 jobs, helping to build local expertise in infrastructure development. The venture will also contribute to fostering a sustainable workforce for future projects in the region.
The third project, a $259mn contract, will focus on the design and construction of modern bridges. The goal is to reduce congestion and enhance the transportation system across the city. This will not only improve the efficiency of Tashkent's transport infrastructure but also create 160 new jobs, benefiting local workers and engineers.
The fourth project, valued at $440mn, will see the construction of a modern residential complex. This development will include residential buildings, business centers, educational institutions, and shopping areas, contributing to the urban growth of Tashkent. The project will provide much-needed housing and commercial spaces, supporting the city's expanding population and business activities.
While the locations for the road reconstruction, bridge construction, and residential complex projects were not specified, these initiatives mark a significant step in Tashkent's urban development.
