    Tajikistan and Qatar forge alliance with nine cooperation agreements

    Tajikistan and the State of Qatar have elevated their bilateral ties to new heights through the signing of nine pivotal cooperation agreements, the presidential press service reported. The signing ceremony, which followed extensive summit meetings and talks between the leadership of both nations, marked a significant stride towards mutual progress and understanding.

    The comprehensive agreements cover a diverse array of sectors, emphasizing the commitment of both Tajikistan and Qatar to foster collaboration in areas of strategic importance. The signed documents include a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in managing emergency situations and natural disasters. This crucial agreement was inked between the Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Civil Defense Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the State of Qatar.

    Education emerged as a key focus, with the signing of 'The First Program of Action' under the Agreement on cooperation in the field of education, higher education, and scientific research. The academic years 2024/2025-2025/2026-2026/2027 will witness enhanced collaboration, paving the way for educational excellence and research advancements.

    Diplomatic relations between the two nations are set to flourish further with the Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar for the period 2024-2026. This program seeks to strengthen political ties and facilitate seamless communication between the two governments.

    Cultural exchange received a boost with the signing of a Joint Statement on the development of cultural cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Culture of the State of Qatar. This is expected to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural heritage of both nations.

    An essential agreement in the financial realm was reached through the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Financial Monitoring under the National Bank of Tajikistan and the Financial Unit of Qatar. This agreement focuses on sharing financial intelligence information to combat crimes related to the legalization (officialization) of funds and the financing of terrorism.

    The avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion on income and capital were addressed through the signing of an Agreement between the Governments of Tajikistan and Qatar. This will contribute to a more stable economic environment and encourage cross-border investments.

    The humanitarian front saw notable advancements with the signing of agreements on charitable and humanitarian activities between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan and the Regulatory Body of Charitable Activities in the State of Qatar.

    Further fostering economic collaboration, a Memorandum of Understanding was established between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan and the Authority of Free Zones of Qatar, reflecting the commitment of both nations to promote economic growth and development.

    The discussions, led by President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan and His Highness the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, underscored the shared commitment to deepening ties and exploring new avenues of cooperation. President Rahmon proposed the establishment of a joint working group to identify priority areas and the creation of the Qatar-Tajikistan Joint Investment Foundation, signaling a new era of economic partnership.

    The summit began with a special meeting of the heads of state and continued with active involvement from official delegations representing both Tajikistan and Qatar. President Rahmon characterized the meeting as a significant extension of the high-level political dialogue between the two nations, highlighting its importance as a noteworthy milestone in the ongoing relationship. In the course of the discussion, President Rahmon recommended the creation of innovative mechanisms to strengthen cooperation, proposing the formation of a collaborative joint working group.
