During the Organization of Turkic States summit in Astana on October 3, Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the escalating Palestine-Israel issue and proposed what he believes is the most equitable solution.
The President of Uzbekistan pointed out the growing crisis of trust on a global scale, the emergence of new challenges to global security, and the increasing instances of deviation from international law norms. He expressed serious concern about the long-standing Palestinian-Israeli problem in the Middle East, which has become highly perilous.
The armed conflict in the region has resulted in a significant rise in civilian casualties and injuries, particularly among vulnerable groups such as the elderly, women, and children, and there is an escalating risk of the conflict spreading further.
In response to these developments, Shavkat Mirziyoyev called on both parties to immediately halt hostilities, establish a ceasefire and seek compromises for humanitarian reasons. "The only and fairest solution to this problem is to resolve the conflict based on the principle of "two states for two peoples," the president said.
The President stressed that the Palestinian people have the right, as defined in UN resolutions, to establish an independent state. He urged the member states to present a unified and unwavering stance on this issue to the international community through their organization.
