Uzbekistan has witnessed a remarkable surge in electric vehicle (EV) imports, with over 22.49 thousand EVs brought into the country in the past ten months. This marks a more than sixfold increase compared to the same period in 2022. The total cost of these passenger EV imports amounted to an impressive $582.3mn.
China remains the dominant supplier, contributing 91.7% of the total EV imports. A total of 20.64 thousand EVs have been imported from China this year, with 13.74 thousand of them arriving in the last three months.
Other significant suppliers include Hong Kong with 1,258 EVs (5.6% of the total), the UAE, South Korea, the USA, and Germany, which have all played a part in diversifying the sources of EVs for Uzbekistan.
This surge in EV imports underlines Uzbekistan's growing commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation. The significant investment in EVs not only promotes eco-friendliness but also promises cost-saving benefits and reduced reliance on fossil fuels.
