The second international specialized forum "Aviation and Logistics" took place at the Uzexpocenter in Uzbekistan, forming part of the TransLogistica Uzbekistan 2023 exhibition. The forum brought together international airports, airlines, and management companies, providing a platform for discussions on various aspects of aviation and logistics.
Panel sessions during the forum covered topics such as the intersection of aviation and tourism, current trends in air transport development, business aviation advancements, air transport infrastructure, and the growth of dry ports and multimodal transport and logistics centers in Uzbekistan. Speakers included representatives from prominent organizations, such as Uzbekistan Airways, Uzbekistan Airports, Boeing, Riga International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, Samsung Construction, TAV Technologies, and Air Marakanda.
During the aviation forum, Uzbekistan Airports presented financial models for Urgench and Andijan airports to potential partners under a public-private partnership framework. The success of the partnership model was exemplified by Samarkand Airport, which achieved record passenger numbers this year, serving 742,000 passengers since the beginning of the year. The airport now operates up to 100 flights per week, demonstrating the benefits of public-private cooperation. Uzbekistan Airports intends to continue modernizing airports in the country using the same approach.
Additionally, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Uzbekistan Airports and Riga International Airport, focusing on personnel training at the Riga airport's training center. Training areas encompass ground handling, safety protocols, handling dangerous goods, and more.
