The Organization of Turkic States held a summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, attended by leaders like President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, and others.
At the summit, President Erdoğan proposed adopting a common alphabet for Turkic peoples to foster unity. He emphasized the need for language-related measures to strengthen the organization's member states' unity, stating,
"The common alphabet is also important. In this regard, the support of the presidents is necessary. The Council of Higher Education made a proposal to the Secretariat. I believe that this proposal will be carefully considered in our organization."
The proposal has implications for linguistic and cultural cohesion among Turkic-speaking nations, potentially enhancing collaboration. This initiative aligns with the organization's goal of promoting unity and cooperation.
