The mutual trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Georgia increased by 50%, accompanied by a rise in joint ventures and cargo transportation in 2024. These developments were highlighted during a meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who arrived in Tashkent on an official visit.

At the start of the meeting, Prime Minister Kobakhidze conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili. The discussion focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, transportation, tourism, and digitalization. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the increasing contacts at parliamentary and governmental levels.
Direct flights between the capitals have further strengthened connectivity, while a digital bank in Uzbekistan, established with the participation of Georgian investors, reflects growing financial collaboration. In the cultural sphere, the successful organization of Uzbek Culture and Film Days in Tbilisi last year underscored the deepening people-to-people ties.

The leaders praised the outcomes of the recent Intergovernmental Commission meeting in Tashkent and emphasized the need to maintain trade momentum. They highlighted the importance of balancing exports and imports, fostering industrial cooperation, and maximizing transport and transit potential. The discussion also covered the expansion of digital initiatives and tourism infrastructure.
Both sides agreed to maintain close cooperation at the governmental level to ensure the practical implementation of the agreements reached, reinforcing the growing strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Georgia.
