The Temu platform, a popular Chinese e-commerce site, will face restrictions in Uzbekistan starting from March 20, 2025, as reported by the press service of the National Agency of Perspective Projects (NAPP) and the Tax Committee.

A key regulation from the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated December 26, 2024, mandates that only legal entities residing in Uzbekistan can operate as e-commerce operators, including platform operators.
The resolution aims to strengthen the development of Uzbekistan's e-commerce sector and enforce local laws in areas like retail trade, advertising, consumer protection, and personal data rights.
During an inspection of foreign e-commerce platforms, concerns were raised about some platforms, including Temu, not complying with Uzbekistan’s legal requirements. These violations encompass issues related to e-commerce laws, personal data protection, consumer rights, and intellectual property protections.
As a result, the authorities have advised citizens not to place any new orders on the Temu platform. Those who have already placed orders are encouraged to request refunds.
NAPP and the Tax Committee further urged the public to exercise caution when using foreign e-commerce platforms that have not localized their operations in Uzbekistan or are not included in the list of approved foreign companies providing electronic services in the country. Citizens are advised not to share personal or sensitive information with these unregulated platforms.
Since late 2024, Temu, a Chinese marketplace, has gained significant popularity in Uzbekistan, consistently ranking second in the App Store and topping the list in Google Play.
