Kazakhstan has exported over 1mn tons of grain to Tajikistan during the first 10 months of 2024, marking an 11% increase compared to the same period in 2023, which saw exports of 917,100 tons.
The NC Food Contract Corporation, Kazakhstan's national grain operator, has played a pivotal role in boosting exports while optimizing elevator capacity in key grain-producing regions. As part of its export contract, the corporation plans to deliver a total of 100,000 tons of new harvest food wheat to Tajikistan. The initial shipment of 20,000 tons has already been completed.
From September to December 2024, exports of new crop Kazakh grain to Tajikistan surged by 51% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 489,000 tons.
This trade achievement follows agreements reached during Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s official visit to Dushanbe in August 2024. During the visit, both countries' leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral trade, particularly in the agricultural sector.
Tajikistan remains a traditional and growing consumer of Kazakh grain and flour. Annual food shipments to Tajikistan have consistently increased, underscoring the enduring demand for high-quality Kazakh agricultural products.
The NC Food Contract Corporation’s activities are strategically aligned with Kazakhstan’s goals of ensuring national food security, stabilizing grain market prices, and fostering export development. The corporation's efforts to expand grain exports not only benefit the domestic agricultural sector but also reinforce Kazakhstan’s position as a leading grain supplier in Central Asia.
