The Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Exporters KazGrain Zeinolla Abdumanapov proposed to limit the export of grain by road to Uzbekistan.
According to the head of the state-run company, cases of reloading Russian grain from goods wagons to trucks for subsequent export to Uzbekistan are recorded in the Turkestan region noting a ban on the import of grain by road from Russia.
‘This cheap crop inhibits the entire export of Kazakh wheat. I think it is necessary to restrict the export of wheat by road from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan,” Abdumanapov tweeted on his Facebook account.
At the end of February 2023, international organizations detected illicit imports of Russian grain to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan. The Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM) reported that a Kazakhstan company supplied 8.3 thousand tons of grain worth over $2.2 million to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan in 2021-2022.
