Aviation security experts from Kyrgyzstan's State Civil Aviation Agency (SCAA) have supported their counterparts in Kazakhstan as they prepare for an upcoming International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) aviation security audit set for 2025.
Shukhrat Rustamov, the advisor to the SCAA Director on Aviation Security, and Mirzayan Kashkariev, head of the SCAA’s Aviation Security Department, shared their expertise and experience with the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (AAK). Their discussions focused on key aspects of the ICAO audit preparations, including the ICAO Universal Security Audit Program Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA), according to the AAK.
As part of the collaboration, the Kyrgyz delegation also visited Astana International Airport to observe the practical implementation of aviation security measures. Manas International Airport (MAI) in Kyrgyzstan, which manages 11 airports across the country, successfully passed the ICAO audit earlier this summer, setting a valuable precedent for the ongoing preparations.
The meetings in Astana are part of the ongoing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan within the Coordination Group on Aviation Security of the Central Asia and Caucasus countries. This group, active since 2022, fosters regional cooperation on aviation security matters.
Additionally, both nations are members of the Eurasian Civil Aviation Conference (EACAC), which was recently established in Astana. The EACAC aims to enhance the development of a safe and efficient civil aviation system across Central Asia.
