Bakhtiyor Saidov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, recently conducted a crucial meeting with Kakha Imnadze, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and head of the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA).

The discussions underscored the shared commitment of Uzbekistan and UNRCCA to fostering collaborative initiatives that contribute to the common prosperity of Central Asian nations.

In the summer of 2023, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appointed Kakha Imnadze as his special representative and head of UNRCCA, succeeding Natalia German from Moldova. Imnadze, with a distinguished career spanning over three decades, brings a wealth of diplomatic experience to the role. His tenure as Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN, Ambassador of Georgia to Canada, and Permanent Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization underscores his deep understanding of international affairs.
Imnadze's academic background, having graduated from Tbilisi State University, and proficiency in Georgian, English, and Russian further enhance his ability to navigate the complex diplomatic landscape of Central Asia.
Established in 2007 at the joint initiative of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, UNRCCA operates as a special political mission under the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA). Since its inception in 2008, the center has played a pivotal role in promoting preventive diplomacy and addressing regional challenges.
