Uzbekistan is set to enhance its transportation infrastructure with the introduction of 7 new planes and the opening of 3 additional international routes, as revealed by the President's press service.
Despite a 5.5% growth in the import of about 1,500 buses this year, half of the transport services still rely on motor transport. To address this, the Ministry of Transport has been directed to acquire a minimum of 1,200 additional buses and expand bus services to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
The aviation sector has witnessed increased competition with the entry of 6 private companies, resulting in the delivery of 25 new planes and the initiation of 17 routes this year. However, the overall sector's service volume has only seen a modest 7.7% rise. To stimulate growth, the Ministry of Transport has been assigned the task of achieving a 20% increase in air traffic next year.
This involves implementing a daily schedule of at least 2 flights connecting Tashkent with regional centers, weekly flights connecting regional centers, importing a minimum of 7 planes, and opening 3 additional international routes.
