Uzbekistan condemns Israel's attack on Iranian consulate
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan issued a strong condemnation of the air attack on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, Syria. Head of the ministry's press service informed on April 3, that the attack resulted in casualties and extensive damage to the diplomatic premises.
The incident occurred on April 1, when the Israeli Air Force launched a missile attack on the Mezze neighborhood in Damascus, where the Iranian embassy and consulate are situated. The attack resulted in at least 11 fatalities.
In response to the attack, Kyrgyzstan also expressed concern over Israel's actions targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
Farhod Karimov, a political scientist, provided insights into Israel's bombing of the Iranian consulate in Syria. He explained that the primary objective was to target General Mohammad Zahidi of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who played a crucial role in connecting Iran with Hezbollah. Israel aimed to diminish the influence of Hezbollah and Iran in the region through this action.
Karimov highlighted that such an attack violates international legal standards by targeting diplomatic personnel of a foreign country within another nation's borders. He emphasized the potential serious consequences of Israel's actions and suggested that Iran may retaliate. Karimov also noted that Israel's disregard for established international legal norms could be supported by external forces.
