Negotiations aimed at bolstering interregional partnership between Uzbekistan and Iran were conducted in Tehran, as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Iran, Fariddin Nasriev, met with Khezer Khalili, a representative of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture, Dunyo reports.
Heather Khalili, who visited Uzbekistan in January this year as part of a delegation led by Iranian Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade Abbas Aliabadi, commended the significant transformations witnessed in the country and positively appraised the ongoing reforms.
Exploring Areas of Cooperation
The discussions primarily focused on Iran's commitment to enhancing collaboration with Uzbekistan across various domains, encompassing trade, economics, investment, culture, and humanitarian endeavors. Notable attention was directed towards the potential of Iran's Bushehr province, situated along the Persian Gulf coast, which boasts the strategically important port of Bandar Bushehr and a Free Economic Zone.
Both parties expressed keen interest in fostering cultural ties between Bushehr and various regions of Uzbekistan, particularly in the realms of crafts, literature, and art. The Iranian delegation was briefed on Uzbekistan's ongoing reforms and the attractive conditions and incentives available for foreign investors.
Earlier, it was reported that Iran has decided to unilaterally abolish the visa regime for citizens of 28 countries, including Uzbekistan, starting February 4, 2024.
