In a recent address to the participants of the Council on Relations with Foreign Countries, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov outlined ambitious plans for the country's development and highlighted key achievements. The address was made on November 15 during a meeting where the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Edil Baysalov, announced the commencement of a significant regional reconstruction effort.
President Japarov expressed a commitment to building the nation with good intentions and emphasized the importance of every person and home in this endeavor. He underscored the government's focus on developing small and medium-sized businesses, citing the ongoing growth in transport infrastructure, the operation of factories, and the expansion of renewable energy projects.
Specifically, the President mentioned the initiation of projects such as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 Hydropower Plant, highlighting the significance of these national initiatives for enhancing the country's transit potential and ensuring a stable energy supply.
Economic indicators were a focal point of the address, with President Japarov setting a target of 1 trillion soms (over $11.2bn) in domestic production by December 1, 2023. He provided objective data indicating positive economic development, including a notable increase in the consolidated budget by 238bn soms (around $2.7bn) since July 2021 and a planned further increase to 600.7bn soms (over $6.7bn) by July 2024.
A crucial aspect of Kyrgyzstan's economic landscape is the role of migrant workers. The President acknowledged the substantial contributions of Kyrgyz diaspora abroad, recognizing them as ambassadors of the country. He emphasized the importance of migrant workers' remittances as a significant source of income for the nation.
