Almaz Temirbekov, the representative of the Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Economy, engaged in negotiations in Bishkek with Shuhrat Ganiyev, the delegate from the beekeeping network of Uzbekistan. The Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan communicated this information.
Following these discussions, a memorandum of cooperation was established, and an initial agreement was reached for honey supply to Tashkent. This move is expected to broaden trade connections within the beekeeping industry, facilitating honey production, not just between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan but also extending beyond their borders.
The endorsed cooperative memorandum seeks to execute joint projects, while the preliminary agreement confirms the shipment of Kyrgyz mountain honey to Tashkent.
Where else does Kyrgyzstan export its honey?
Apart from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan trades honey with 25 other nations globally. Presently, the country exports honey to China, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Russia.
Specifically, exports to the United Arab Emirates accounted for KGS 19.6mn (equivalent to $220,497), followed by KGS 17.5mn (approximately $196,518) to Japan and KGS 15.5mn (about $174,554).
Approximately 150-170 tons of honey are sold to China annually. Additionally, during the SCO summit in the summer of 2019, a protocol was signed between the two nations’ leaders to expand honey supplies.
