During a conference commemorating World Patient Safety Day, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Edil Baisalov emphasized the need for in-depth research and high-quality analysis to thoroughly explore various avenues for developing the healthcare system.
"We need in-depth research and high-quality analysis to weigh all possible ways of developing the health care system and stop moving by inertia," said the deputy.
Baisalov pointed out that the new government had inherited a healthcare system where private entities dominated, from pharmaceuticals to hemodialysis services. Despite the available resources, he believed that the system's efficiency could be significantly improved. For instance, Kyrgyzstan, in just a few months, managed to save millions of Kyrgyz soms by centralizing medicine procurement, a stark contrast to the previous practice of individual districts purchasing medicines at retail prices.
Moreover, Baisalov highlighted the essential role of the patient community in healthcare system enhancement. He encouraged patients to actively report issues, articulate their requirements, and share their knowledge. This collective effort, he noted, would pinpoint areas for improvement that could be addressed with minimal resource allocation.
