In a significant move towards enhancing the lives of children with disabilities and their families, the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of Kyrgyzstan has embarked on a comprehensive project aimed at training 540 parents of children with disabilities in the art of socialization and rehabilitation. The project, "Parental Education: Teaching Parents of Children with Disabilities the Basics of Rehabilitation," is a joint initiative between the Together Toward Health Public Foundation and the Kyrgyz State University named after Arabaev.
This groundbreaking project seeks to empower parents from all corners of Kyrgyzstan with the necessary psychological, pedagogical, and social skills essential for unlocking the potential of both parents and children with disabilities. The goal is to foster a more inclusive society where children with disabilities have every opportunity to thrive.
Deputy Minister of Labor, Zhanyl Alybayeva, emphasized the importance of this initiative in providing additional social services to the vulnerable segments of the population, particularly children with disabilities. She highlighted the government's commitment to supporting projects that promote inclusivity and welfare.
"If last year, 37 mn soms ($417,089) were allocated from the republican budget for socially significant projects, this year it is already 48.7 mn soms ($548,979). 47 centers were supported, and 20 new centers were created, which provide various services to persons with disabilities, children in difficult life situations," stated Deputy Minister Alybayeva.
The "Parental Education" project is expected to address a critical need within the Kyrgyz society. Parents of children with disabilities often face unique challenges in raising their children, including the need for specialized knowledge and skills in rehabilitation and socialization. This project aims to bridge that knowledge gap and empower parents to provide the best possible care and support for their children.
The training will encompass a wide range of topics, including understanding the unique needs of children with disabilities, effective communication strategies, psychological support, and strategies for enhancing socialization. Trainers and educators from Together Toward Health Public Foundation and Kyrgyz State University named after Arabaev will play a pivotal role in equipping parents with these valuable skills.
The "Parental Education" project is expected to have a profound and lasting impact on the lives of children with disabilities in Kyrgyzstan. By empowering parents with the knowledge and skills they need, it not only benefits individual families but also contributes to building a more inclusive and compassionate society where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
As the project takes shape and the training begins, there is optimism that Kyrgyzstan will continue to make significant strides in improving the lives of children with disabilities and their families, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.
