Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov held a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, the presidential press service reports. During their discussions, the leaders of both nations explored key areas of cooperation encompassing politics, trade, economics, culture, humanitarian endeavors, and other aspects of mutual engagement.
President Raisi acknowledged the existence of significant untapped potential and opportunities to elevate bilateral relations to new heights, emphasizing the need to bolster trade, which is currently at a modest level. He advocated for increased efforts in strengthening the bilateral joint intergovernmental commission.
President Japarov expressed his willingness to maintain an ongoing political dialogue and cooperation across all levels, pledging to enhance Kyrgyz-Iranian collaboration in areas of shared interest. He lent his support to President Raisi's proposal to deepen economic and trade ties, emphasizing the importance of investment cooperation.
The President highlighted the importance of addressing logistical challenges and underscored the significance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project. He also emphasized the pivotal role of the Kyrgyz-Iranian intergovernmental joint commission and suggested convening a regular meeting in Bishkek by year-end.
President Japarov extended his congratulations to President Raisi for Iran's full membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Both heads of state cordially invited each other to make official visits to Kyrgyzstan and Iran at mutually convenient times.
