The presidential press service notes that that relations between the countries have entered a new level in all spheres - politics, inter-parliamentary connections, trade and economy, transportation, energy, water and agriculture, cultural and humanitarian aspects.
"Turkmenistan is our closest neighbor. Our peoples, shared language, religion, and traditions have lived side by side for many centuries," Mirziyoyev emphasized.
Experts told Daryo that bilateral trade has increased more than fivefold in recent years, reaching nearly $1bn.
Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have agreed to create a trade centre on their common border and share the Amu Darya, the largest (by volume) river in the Central Asian region.
It has recently become known that Uzbekistan plans to sign a long-term contract to buy Turkmen gas.
