Uzbekistan and Hong Kong are set to establish direct passenger and cargo flights, the Ministry of Transport reported.

On August 12, Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriyev met with Vice Chairman of JDB Group Limited, a Hong Kong-based company, to discuss promising aviation projects involving Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, and potential international partners.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on launching regular flights between Hong Kong and Uzbekistan. Hong Kong Airlines was invited as a priority partner-operator for these routes. In addition to air connectivity, discussions included the creation of an International Aviation Academy in Uzbekistan.

The proposed academy would train pilots, technicians, flight attendants, ground staff, and aviation managers according to international standards, including those set by the FAA and IASA.
In April, Uzbekistan Airports and China Southern Airlines held negotiations to discuss expanding cooperation, increasing existing flight frequencies, and exploring new route opportunities to Uzbekistan’s airports.
Since June 1, 2025, citizens of Uzbekistan have been able to enter China visa-free, and vice versa, for stays of up to 30 days. For longer visits, travelers must obtain an entry visa in advance.
