Imports of electric vehicles (EVs) to Uzbekistan have reached an all-time high, doubling in the first seven months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, the Customs Committee reported.

Between January and July 2025, Uzbekistan imported 20,873 electric cars valued at $293.2mn. This marks the highest figure ever recorded for the period. In comparison, 10,536 EVs worth $155.8mn were brought into the country during the same months in 2024.
For the whole of 2024, Uzbekistan imported 24,091 EVs worth $224.7mn — a figure that this year’s imports are on track to surpass well before the year ends.
Meanwhile, imports of gasoline-powered passenger cars have sharply declined. In January–July 2025, 9,498 units worth $195.9mn were imported, compared to 23,219 cars valued at around $509mn during the same period last year. Hybrid car imports also fell from 7,265 to 1,852 units between the two periods.
The surge in EV imports comes amid a boom in local sales. In July 2025 alone, Uzbekistan saw 6,500 electric vehicles sold — the highest monthly sales volume ever recorded in the country.
Earlier it was reported that as of July 1, 2025, Uzbekistan had 73,600 registered electric vehicles, reflecting a 12.88% increase since April with 8,400 new units added.
Tashkent remained the dominant hub, holding 75.8% of the total — slightly down from 76.2% in April — with 55,820 EVs registered in the capital, up 12.25% from the previous quarter.
