Talks on the implementation of important joint energy projects through Afghanistan have been held in Islamabad (Pakistan), the Turkmenistan's foreign ministry reports.
In particular, it concerns the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line.
In a meeting with Turkmenistan's Ambassador Atajan Movlamov, Pakistan's Acting Minister for Energy, Power and Petroleum Muhammad Ali noted "the importance of active implementation of the above projects".
Radio Pakistan reported that the two sides agreed to accelerate work on these projects through regular working group meetings.
Experts told Daryo that the projects were put on hold after the Islamic Emirati government took power in Afghanistan in August 2021.
Securing and financing major infrastructure projects in Afghanistan is on the agenda. The issue of international recognition of the new government in Kabul remains topical.
