The directive was published on the legal information portal of the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan. According to an earlier law, in Turkmenistan such operations are carried out by state clinics after authorisation from the relevant ministry.
The removal of organs and tissues from a living donor is allowed if his health will not be harmed in accordance with the conclusion of the medical consilium. The same procedure from a postmortem donor is allowed after the moment of death has been determined in accordance with the law, with the written consent of one of his close relatives or legal representative.
Experts say that transplantation is one of the fastest-growing medical technologies, making it possible to help patients who previously would have been doomed to imminent death or severe disability.
