The head of the branch of the presidential administration reacted to the court verdict of a man who raped and then killed a 12-year-old girl in Tashkent and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Mirziyoyeva noted that although this punishment does not alleviate the suffering of the girl's parents, it is a fair court decision made under public scrutiny. It also stressed that laws should work not only to punish but also to prevent such crimes.
"Yes, this punishment does not alleviate the suffering of the girl's parents, it cannot compensate for the losses. But this is a fair judgment made under public scrutiny. No violence should go unpunished. Laws should work not only to punish but also to prevent such terrible crimes," said the head of the Presidential Administration branch.
