Sakhalin, Russian island in the Pacific Ocean, received about 2,500 foreign citizens in the first quarter of 2023. According to statistics, most of them came from Central Asia and the Caucasus. In 2022, more than 11,200 permits were issued on Sakhalin, and in 4 months of 2023, there were already more than 3,800 thousand of them. The main recipients of work patents from January to April in 2023 are workers from Uzbekistan - approximately 79%, Tajikistan - 16.7% toiling in construction, delivery, wholesale and retail trade.
Among the migrants who have become citizens of the Russian Federation, are representatives of Tajikistan - in 2022, 1,315 people received passports, and since the beginning of 2023 there are additional 385 new passport holders.
