Uzbekistan's president, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the Chilonzor industrial zone in Tashkent city on May 26 to familiarize himself with the operations of various enterprises, his press service reports.
The industrial zone currently houses 510 enterprises, with new ones continuously being established. Among them, a food enterprise produces 7,000 tons of products, including 10 types of chips, and plans to expand its product range in the second phase of the project.
In the furniture industry, an enterprise manufactures 2mn m² of wooden panels annually, primarily as a substitute for imported products. Additionally, a functional food plant produces 5mn boxes of iodized confectionery products, with 30% of them intended for export.
The president inspected the production processes of these enterprises and highlighted the importance of establishing similar ventures in all regions. Recognizing the significance of iodine for public health, he instructed the increase of iodine-enriched foods in the country.
A presentation was conducted to outline the industrial development plans for the Chilonzor district. The district possesses extensive infrastructure, vacant buildings, and reliable energy resources. Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of providing funding to entrepreneurs, introducing foreign technologies, and transforming Chilonzor into a thriving industrial hub.
Furthermore, the president stressed that economic projects should yield positive social outcomes. He emphasized the need to support entrepreneurs, expand their activities, reduce poverty in the area, and promote employment among the population. A new program was launched with the objective of providing employment opportunities for 3,000 impoverished individuals and 10,000 unemployed citizens in the district.
Mirziyoyev also visited an exhibition showcasing products manufactured by enterprises in the Chilonzor district.
