An incident occurred on May 21 involving a Mercedes-Benz 96 bus in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent.
The bus, which had been operating since 2012 and had traveled over 880,000 km, experienced a short circuit in its electrical wiring, resulting in the wires catching fire. As a result, the bus was destroyed despite the driver's efforts to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident.
Tashshahartranskhizmat JSC has initiated an internal audit to investigate and address potential concerns within its production and technical departments.
This was not the first time that Mercedes-Benz buses had experienced fire-related incidents this year, with multiple events being reported since January.
