A local construction company has proposed the development of a multi-story building in the 8th block of Yunusabad district in Tashkent. However, this proposition requires demolishing a parking lot currently used by neighborhood residents, media reports.
The Tashkent city council has confirmed that the plot of land, measuring 1.23 hectares, situated between three apartment buildings, was allocated to Franchising Invest by the Mayor of Tashkent in February 2018.
As per the conditions agreed upon, the company is required to demolish the parking lot at its own expense and obtain the consent of the residents before commencing with the construction. However, the residents have expressed concern over losing their parking spaces and voiced opposition on various social media platforms.
The city council has noted these concerns and assured the public that obtaining the consent of the local population is a crucial condition that needs to be met. The developer company is not permitted to commence with the project without the consent of residents.
The council has also taken specific measures to address the situation, including issuing an official warning to the construction organization on May 19 that construction cannot commence without the residents' consent. Failure to obtain the residents' permission may lead to the project's cancellation.
