Russian blogger Ilya Varlamov recently criticized the service quality of Uzbekistan Railways Joint Stock Company. He expressed dissatisfaction with his experience of purchasing a $100 ticket for the deluxe carriage of the Samarkand-Tashkent train.
Varlamov commented that the wagons in Uzbekistan seemed to be indistinguishable from one another, as he had to settle for the deluxe carriage of a regular train due to the unavailability of tickets on the high-speed train.
In response to the situation, Uzbekistan Railways' information service addressed the issue and held a meeting. Strict disciplinary measures were taken against the train watchers and train manager responsible for that day, along with reinforcing instructions on service standards and practices in passenger trains.
The railway company clarified that the ticket price for the mentioned route is not over $100. The Russian journalist had purchased the ticket electronically from the "RJD" website of the Russian Federation for 4213.9 rubles.
The luxury carriage in question consists of four compartments, accommodating only eight passengers. The official statement urges passengers not to believe unverified information and confirms that the ticket price for the route is $33.6.
