Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, compared Western society and China, noting that the rapid development in China proved the tacit acceptance of Western values as freedom of speech and LGBTQ culture are not the ONLY ways to progress. The minister emphasized that it is necessary to study the experience of not only Western countries but also East.
"As a person who has seen many Western countries, when I recently visited China, I witnessed that China is not only not behind in terms of development and innovation, but also far ahead of most developed countries. (For example, when walking down the street in Shenzhen, there are more high-speed railways than in the United States or more electric cars.)
More than half of the 200,000 employees of a typical Huawei company, i.e. around 120,000, are engaged in scientific work. In terms of the total number of scientific workers, China has long surpassed the United States, and soon it will overtake the United States in terms of total R&D spending.
As we strive to develop our economy while preserving our values, it will be necessary for us to study the experience of not only Western countries but also Eastern countries like China," Sherzod Shermatov said.
