Turkmen parliament speaker Dunyagozel Gulmanova received credentials from Ambassador Apirat Sugondhabhirom of Thailand, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports. Deputy Foreign Minister Myahri Byashimova also received the newly appointed top diplomat.
"The Turkmen diplomat stressed the importance of high-level contacts, and in this regard, there was an exchange of views on the possibility of organizing visits of heads of state."
The parties exchanged views on prospects for cooperation in trade, energy, gas-chemical and agro-industrial sectors.
Local media have published a letter from King Maha Vachiralongkorn of Thailand addressed to Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
He stressed that he had appointed a diplomat to represent his country in Ashgabat "to further develop the relationship of friendship and understanding that exists between the Kingdom of Thailand and Turkmenistan".
