Turkmenistan and Tajikistan signed a Declaration on deepening their strategic partnership, the state-run Turkmen Habarlary agency reports May 10. This was the result of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's first state visit to Dushanbe and his talks with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rakhmon.
"Further development and deepening of the Turkmen-Tajik dialogue meets the fundamental interests of the two countries and enhances stability in the region," the press service of the Turkmen President said in a commentary.
More than 20 documents were signed at the inter-governmental level, including on the banking system, trade, employment and industrial co-operation. The parties also signed an agreement on cooperation in international cybersecurity and a roadmap to boost multimodal transport.
