Japanese Kazuhiko Tokuno has been named head of Turkmenistan's national judo team, local TV channel Miras reports.
The 49-year-old seventh-dan Kodokan judoka won a two-year contract in Ashgabat. He is listed as technical director of the National Judo Federation of Turkmenistan.
He has come up big in his time, winning gold at the 1995 Asian Judo Championship (New Delhi, India) and the 1998 Asian Games (Bangkong, Thailand) at 60kg.
Kazuhiko was second at the 1999 World Judo Championships in Birmingham, UK, and third in Munich, Germany, in 2001.
