Uzbekistan's Embassy in Madrid, Spain, diplomats met with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MEFP) and Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education (SEPIE) representatives to discuss the development of bilateral cooperation in higher and secondary education, Dunyo reports.
At the meeting, the representatives of Spain's education sector proposed to launch Spanish language courses in Uzbek schools as part of the suggested bilingual department program. Such projects are now widely implemented in schools in Latin America, the USA, the EU, China, Russia, and other countries.
As noted, schools that had introduced Spanish language programs had a higher status than other institutions, and gifted pupils were offered a Spanish certificate alongside the national one. In addition, the educational institutions participating in the Spanish program will have Spanish language and culture corners and museums.
According to Britannica, Spanish is the official language of 18 American countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela, as well as of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, along with Spain in Europe and Equatorial Guinea in Africa.
