Uzbekistan has received its first shipment of live sheep from Mongolia, according to Uzbekistan Airports.

A specialized cargo flight delivered around 1,000 "Bayad" sheep, weighing a total of 37 tons, to Navoi International Airport. The flight was operated by Kyrgyz cargo airline KAP KG, and represents the initial stage of a supply agreement signed earlier this year.
The deal was reached in June during talks between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh. Under the agreement, Uzbekistan will import up to 100,000 heads of small livestock by the end of 2025, with the first phase involving 60 flights through October carrying 50,000 animals. Another 50,000 are scheduled to be delivered in November and December.
Uzbekistan plans to expand the number of sheep and goats of this breed to 1mn by 2029 as part of efforts to boost domestic livestock farming.
In return, Uzbekistan will supply fruits and vegetables to Mongolia on 123 cargo flights, also through Navoi International Airport. The airport authority will provide technical assistance, including logistics coordination and qualified specialists to oversee operations.
During recent negotiations with Mongolia’s Deputy Prime Minister S. Amarsaikhan, both sides also agreed to reduce export duties on sheep and goats from $18 to $7 per head, facilitating the implementation of the agreement.
