US President Joe Biden will not attend the coronation ceremony of British King Charles III scheduled for May 6 due to age-related issues, The Telegraph sources report. Instead of Biden, his wife Dr.Jill Biden may come to Great Britain.
According to the source, foreign trips "require a lot of energy" from the American president. "They are trying to focus on the key moments and may be thinking twice about crossing the Atlantic for a second time at short notice," a source told The Telegraph.
The British newspaper said that the US is ready to send its highest-ranking representatives, including first lady Dr.Jill Biden, to replace Biden.
The leaders of Ireland, France, Spain, Belgium, Japan, Hungary, and Monaco, as well as the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, and the President of the European Council Charles Michel will be among the heads of state participating in the event.
Joe Biden is set to arrive in Belfast, Northern Ireland on April 11. He will take part in events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Belfast Agreement. It is speculated that Biden may meet with Charles III. After that, Biden will go to Dublin until mid-April.
