Following the massive earthquakes that shook southern Türkiye in February, the country's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed on March 31 not to rest until the entire quake-hit region revived.
On the same day, the head of state attended a groundbreaking ceremony for new houses in the quake-hit city of Gaziantep.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan unveiled plans to erect 650,000 new houses. Three hundred nineteen thousand homes will be completed within a year and delivered to those affected by the quake.
On February 6, magnitude 7.7, and 7.6, earthquakes struck eleven provinces of the country, including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Elazig, Hatay, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa – claiming more than 50,000 lives.
More than 13.5mn people in Türkiye have been affected by the quakes and many others in northern Syria.
