Consumer prices in March increased by an average of 0.9%, according to the Statistics Agency. This marks a slight rise compared to the 0.7% inflation rate recorded in March 2024.
Over the first three months of 2025, inflation reached 2.1%, compared to 1.7% during the same period last year. Annual inflation at the end of March stood at 10.3%, exceeding the previous year’s level by more than two percentage points.
Among the regions, Tashkent saw the highest annual inflation at 12%, while Syrdarya had the lowest at 8.6%. Monthly inflation was highest in Surkhandarya, where prices rose by 1.2%.
Food prices continued to rise faster than other categories, increasing by 1.5% in March. The Statistics Agency attributed this to rising prices for meat and oil products. However, annual food inflation remained relatively moderate at 3.2%.
Lamb prices increased by 9%, while beef rose by 8.3-8.8%. Poultry meat saw a modest increase of 0.6%, and live fish became 1.7% more expensive. Among dairy and oil products, milk prices rose by 0.9%, and butter increased by 1.1%. Meanwhile, rice and wheat flour prices declined by 2.3% and 1.4%, respectively.

Vegetable prices showed mixed trends. Carrots rose sharply by over 15%, while tomatoes, bell peppers, cabbage, and onions also saw price increases ranging from 2% to 4.3%. On the other hand, cucumbers became 14.7% cheaper, and potato prices dropped by 3.7%, limiting the overall increase in vegetable prices to just 0.3%. Fruits and nuts recorded a minor price rise of 0.1%.
Industrial goods prices remained stable, rising by just 0.2% month-on-month. The most notable increase in this segment was in jewelry prices, which grew by 2.3%. The annual increase in industrial goods prices stood at 7.4%, slightly lower than in the previous months.
Paid services rose by 0.7% in March, a smaller increase than at the beginning of the year. However, compared to March 2024, service inflation reached 27%, largely due to last year’s energy tariff hikes.
Housing and communal service tariffs increased by an average of 4% over the past month. The cost of mobile operator services rose by 3.5%, while complex telecom services became 1.1% more expensive. Passenger airfares saw a 4.4% increase, and train tickets rose by 0.4%.
