Kazakhstan's low-cost carrier FlyArystan has bolstered its fleet with the addition of a new Airbus A320neo, bringing the total number of this aircraft type in its fleet to 11. The airline's overall fleet now consists of 24 aircraft, including 13 Airbus A320ceos.
The newly delivered A320neo, registered as EI-KFD and named Spica, arrived in Almaty from Airbus’ Toulouse facility on January 15. Powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1127G-JM engines, the aircraft is leased from Avolon and is configured to accommodate 188 passengers. It has yet to enter revenue service.
FlyArystan marked a significant milestone earlier this year by transitioning to its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and beginning operations under its unique IATA code, FS, on January 1, 2025. Despite this transition, the airline remains a fully owned subsidiary of Air Astana Group.
The parent company, Air Astana Group, has ambitious expansion plans for 2025. It aims to add eight new aircraft to its overall fleet, with at least two Airbus A320ceos earmarked for FlyArystan. These deliveries are expected to take place during the first quarter of the year.
Earlier Kazakhstan announced that construction has officially started on three new airports in resort areas—Zaisan, Katon-Karagay, and Kendirli—to promote domestic tourism and improve passenger air transportation. Launched under the President's directive, these projects aim to boost the regional economy, attract both local and international tourists, and create new job opportunities for residents in the surrounding areas.
Kazakhstan's air transport infrastructure is also being modernized alongside the airport projects. In 2024, new passenger terminals were opened in Almaty, Shymkent, and Kyzylorda, boosting their capacity and improving facilities for both domestic and international travelers.
