Former head of the Information Policy Department of Uzbekistan’s Presidential Administration, Komil Allamjonov, was the target of a shooting incident in the early hours of October 26. Uzbekistan’s General Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the attack occurred at around 1:40 a.m. on Ifor Street in Kibray District. Two unidentified assailants fired multiple gunshots at a Range Rover driven by a civilian identified as SS, with Allamjonov reportedly inside. The attackers immediately fled the scene, no injuries were reported.
A criminal case has been opened with the charge of attempted murder. Authorities have assembled a specialized task force and are conducting urgent search operations to identify and apprehend the suspects.
This incident comes shortly after Allamjonov’s recent departure from his government role on September 30. He previously announced plans to continue his career in the private sector, though officials have not disclosed any potential motives behind the attack or provided further information on the suspects.
Investigation teams remain active, with law enforcement agencies working intensively to resolve the case.
