Uzbekistan dispatched another batch of humanitarian assistance to Balkh province in Afghanistan on April 25, as reported by the press service of the Surkhandarya region's khokimiyat (city administration).
The handover ceremony took place on the same day at the premises of the Astras company in Hairatan, with Surkhandarya's khokim (mayor) Ulugbek Kosimov, Governor of Balkh Province Muhammad Yusuf Vafo, and other official representatives from both countries.
During the event, officials from Balkh province expressed their gratitude for the assistance provided by Uzbekistan during these challenging times. The khokimiyat, in a statement, quoted the Balkh province officials, saying, "Speaking at the event, officials of the Balkh province expressed gratitude to the president and the people [of Uzbekistan] for the help they are providing during this difficult time."
Earlier Daryo reported that severe floods have devastated Badakhshan province in Afghanistan, causing extensive damage to property and agricultural fields. Reports suggest that the floods hit multiple areas within Shuhado and Rogistan districts on April 22, leading to considerable economic losses for the region.
