Turkey refused entry to 163 Uzbek citizens in 2M24, 54 of whom had previously committed offences in the country, the Uzbek Agency for External Labour Migration reports. The individuals whose behaviour raised suspicion among migration officials underwent interviews and had their cell phones checked. The security protocols, especially for individuals between the ages of 20 and 35, have strengthened at Istanbul airport.
Since the start of the year, Turkey deported several women implicated in human trafficking, including individuals identified as Munisakhon Alijonova and Nilufar Mirkhanova, also referred to as "Madame Claude," alongside Dilnoza Umarova and Mavludakhon Ulmasova.
Additionally, authorities extradited Fakhriddin Shakarboyev, aged 58, and Humoyunbek Mardonov, aged 31, both of whom faced accusations related to financial crimes.
Turkey is actively preventing entry to those suspected of grave criminal activities such as terrorism or human trafficking and those caught attempting to smuggle prohibited items. These individuals face immediate repatriation.
Amid concerns voiced by Uzbek citizens over strict measures by Turkish law enforcement, the Uzbek Agency for External Labour Migration raised these issues with the Turkish government.
