Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan, Nazgul Sagindykova, recently convened a meeting with Sali Limani, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of North Macedonia, alongside Afrim Bunjaku, the developer of a program for the deaf and founder of "Virtual Communications Service," the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population reported. The discussions primarily focused on fostering cooperation and sharing experiences in the realm of social protection, particularly for individuals with disabilities.
Sagindykova commenced the meeting by expressing gratitude towards North Macedonia for its dedication to addressing social support for individuals with special needs and its commitment to realizing the goals of inclusive sustainable development. She underscored Kazakhstan's ongoing efforts to promote and safeguard the rights of citizens with disabilities, aiming at their seamless integration into society.
"Presently, there are approximately 725,000 people with disabilities residing in our country, constituting about 4% of the total population. The Ministry diligently formulates and implements state policies pertaining to the social protection of individuals with disabilities, ensuring the provision of specialized social services and assistance," remarked Sagindykova.
Furthermore, Kazakhstan is in the process of executing the second stage of the National Plan to ensure the rights and enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities. A new Concept of Inclusive Policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2030 is set to be adopted by year-end, as per the directives of the Head of State.
Additionally, Kazakhstan has ratified the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with the defense of the first Report of Kazakhstan on the implementation of the Convention scheduled at the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in March this year.
Sagindykova also briefed attendees on innovative approaches within Kazakhstan's social security system, particularly addressing the needs of individuals with disabilities, as outlined in the Social Code.
Limani reciprocated the sentiment, expressing appreciation for the meeting and highlighting the importance of continued close collaboration to achieve substantive outcomes.
Bunjaku showcased a mobile application project tailored for the deaf community, garnering mutual interest from both parties regarding collaboration on issues related to the inclusion of citizens with hearing impairments.
